440C Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel 440 is a high carbon and high chromium Martensitic stainless steel. It’s characterized by good corrosion resistance in mild domestic and strong oxidation without lubrication environments. There are three types: 440A, 440B and 440C, among which the carbon content and hardness increase successively (A-0.75%, B-0.9%, C-1.2%). 440C is the most commonly used steel grade and 440F is the free cutting type based on 440C. 440C provides extremely high strength, hardness and wear resistance when in the hardened and tempered condition, and its hardness can up to 58HRC. The typical applications of 440C steel including ball bearings and races, bushings, cutlery, knife blades, pump parts, surgical instruments, valve seats etc.
