Alloy 2205 Stainless Steel

By containing 22% chromium and 5% nickel, UNS S31803 and UNS S32205 are often referred to as Alloy 2205. S31803 is a type of low alloy duplex stainless steel and S32205 is the upgraded version of S31803 by the addition of the lower limit content of Cr, Mo and N elements, which makes the little difference in mechanical properties. The grade 2205 offers excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion, pitting and crevice corrosion combined with its resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking at temperatures 50 – 300ºC, is widely used in the chemical industry, paper manufacturing, desalination equipment, firewalls, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, turbine blades and transmission shafts of offshore fields.
