Os a\u00e7os Maraging das classes 18Ni(200), 18Ni(250) e 18Ni(300) com limite de escoamento de 1400, 1700 e 1900 MPa foram obtidos pela INCO adicionando diferentes teores de Co, Mo e Ti ao Fe-Ni Martens\u00edtico liga atrav\u00e9s do endurecimento por envelhecimento. O 18Ni(200) e 18Ni(250) <a href=\"https:\/\/wldstainless.com\/materials\/martensitic-stainless-steel\/15-5ph-stainless-steel\/\">a\u00e7os<\/a> foram aplicados pela primeira vez ao casco do motor do foguete ou a alguns requisitos especiais onde \u00e9 necess\u00e1ria resist\u00eancia ultra-alta. A resist\u00eancia do a\u00e7o Maraging n\u00e3o vem do carbono, mas da precipita\u00e7\u00e3o de compostos intermet\u00e1licos. O a\u00e7o AISI 18Ni \u00e9 o tipo representativo do a\u00e7o Maraging. Ap\u00f3s o tratamento de envelhecimento, ele endurece devido \u00e0 dissolu\u00e7\u00e3o e precipita\u00e7\u00e3o de diversos compostos intermet\u00e1licos. A dureza pode aumentar para 50HRC. A excelente caracter\u00edstica do a\u00e7o 18Ni \u00e9 que ele ainda apresenta boa tenacidade e alta tenacidade \u00e0 fratura sob condi\u00e7\u00f5es de ultra-alta resist\u00eancia e alta dureza.
